All Joie, All Vivre.

Positioned in the heart of The Yards, DC’s fastest-growing neighborhood, the chalets and villas of Estate offer carefree European-inspired living imbued with the French notion of joie de vivre. With design from award-winning Hariri Pontarini Architects and interiors by STUDIOS, Estate offers Art Nouveau accents, striking views, and sculpted green spaces, bringing a distinctly Parisian touch to the sought-after riverfront area. 

REA partnered with long-time collaborator Brookfield Properties to create a brand story and identity that would convey the exuberant, vivacious attitudes and romance of France’s La Belle Epoque in a fresh, contemporary manner. The identity would draw upon and refresh an existing logotype and visual system.

Incorporating royal blue, soft grays and touches of gold, our color palette speaks to classic French aesthetic and adapts easily to suit a myriad of contexts. Inspired by the traditional toile wallpapers found in French chateaux, a striking blue-and-white pattern incorporates illustrated moments and motifs representative of life at Estate, creating a memorable visual language for the brand. Individual illustrations from the pattern can also be separated out and used on their own.

The Parisian theme has been executed throughout the brand photography and Estate’s interior design, with both the color palette and toile pattern appearing throughout the building’s amenities, as well as across its gift packaging and bespoke branded items. Further applications include print and digital promotional materials, a new stationery suite, curated move-in gifts, out-of-home campaigns, direct mailers and retail window signage, all of which together create a seamless visual experience. 

This holistic branding approach, together with our close collaboration with Brookfield and their design and marketing teams, has furnished Estate with a clear, unique and charming brand story infused with curated moments of delight, distinguishing it in a highly competitive market.


The design system is rich with layers that come together to create a narrative that reveals itself across curated encounters with messaging, illustration and meaningful small moments.
